I am Lee Jung-Bok, the president of Korea Western Power.
Korea Western Power, separated from KEPCO, was established on April 2, 2001 as a public corporation specializing in power generation.
The Company has 11,918 MW of facilities in Taean Thermal Power Complex Division, Pyeongtaek, Seoincheon, and Gunsan, which account for about 8.2% of total domestic power generation capacity, 2,800 executives and employees are committed to providing quality, reliable and economical electricity.
As a power generation public corporation, the Company places the utmost priority on safety and the environment, devoting its efforts to the eradication of industrial accidents and operation of environmentally friendly facilities. Comprehensive measures are being implemented to fundamentally prevent negligent accidents, including a plan to reinforce environmental facilities of coal-fired plant and introduce environment new technology in order to reduce the emissions of fine dust-causing substances by 90% compared to 2015, thereby realizing the highest level of eco-friendly power plants at home and abroad by 2047.
Korea Western Power is accumulating unique and differentiated technical capability. The company has built and operated a coal gasification combined cycle power plant (IGCC) that generates electricity by coal gas, which is the seventh in the world rankings and the only in the country. In order to raise technological independence of domestic power generation facilities to 90% iby 2030, the Company is focusing on localization of power generation equipment and original technology such as Gas Turbine Localization Project, etc.
Based on these value-orientation and technological capabilities, the Company will secure 27% of its total volume of power generation with New and Renewable energy by 2035. Also will advance into overseas power generation market beyond Indonesia, Laos and Australia, to secure domestic and overseas growth engines.
Moreover, we will create a healthy ecosystem through mutual growth with partners and SMEs, and will become a good neighbor for local communities and isolated areas, providing various social contribution activities
